Who We Are

Dr. Zhu leads the overall strategy and corporate direction of CORE Biomedicine. In this role, Ping focuses on shaping the company’s innovation strategy and advancing a new generation of precision medicines rooted in cancer lineage biology. Ping co-founded CORE Biomedicine, bringing nearly two decades of leadership in drug discovery and development.

He previously served as President and Chief Scientific Officer of H3 Biomedicine, an Eisai-owned biotech in Cambridge, MA, where he oversaw both discovery and clinical programs in precision oncology. Earlier in his career, Ping held leadership roles at Novartis, where he led first-in-class target discovery platforms and drug discovery initiatives.

Ping earned his Medical Degree (BM) from Shanghai Second Medical University, a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Karlsruhe and completed postdoctoral training at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute/UC San Diego.

Dr. Zheng leads the overall strategy of R&D of CORE Biomedicine. In this role, Guozhu focuses on overall strategy in both discovery and development to move forward our innovative medicines for the unmet medical needs.

Guozhu, co-founder of CORE Biomedicine, has brought over two decades of drug R&D experience and leadership in various pharma and biotech companies. He most recently served as Chief Discovery Officer at Xgene. He has moved various drug candidates into various clinical stages for various indications, including CNS diseases, neurodegenerative disease, autoimmune disease and oncology.

Guozhu received his BSc from Fudan University, and his PhD in chemistry from McGill University, and his postdoctoral training at Harvard University under Prof. EJ Corey.

Dr. Sahmoud oversees early and late-stage clinical development. He focuses on enabling rapid progression and delivery of breakthrough therapies through world-class clinical trial design and operations.

He has extensive drug development experience, most recently serving as Chief Medical Officer of Context Therapeutics and H3 Biomedicine. He also served as a corporate Vice President at Celgene and a Vice President at Novartis, among other leading roles in distinguished oncology organizations.

Tarek earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB, BCh) from Kasr Al-Aini Medical School, Cairo University, in Egypt, and earned his PhD from University Bordeaux II in France.
